They fight not only against us, but also against our identity: the case of the Irpin House of Culture

In the course of the battles for the Kyiv Region in the spring of 2022, the Irpin`s Cultural Center came under enemy fire, which almost destroyed this unique architectural monument. Residents built it with their own hands in the 1950s. However, only the entrance group with the colonnade survived.

We digitized the House of Culture in Irpin to preserve the monument as it exists now. For this, we used drone and ground photography, taking about 2,000 pictures in total to create a 3D model of the building. In this way, we want not only to record the destruction that the house suffered but also to attract the attention of the world community for its restoration.

During the full-scale invasion, more than 500 cultural monuments were destroyed. For years, the unique Ukrainian culture suffered from the influence of russia: deportations, censorship, and famines. Now they are physically destroying us and our monuments. According to russia, not only the objects of critical infrastructure are subject to destruction, but also civilians, our culture, and our identity. The project was created on the initiative of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration under the leadership of Anna Kutsenko.
