Throughout the Trypillian culture, more than 200 settlements have been opened, thousands of ceramic products have been found, but many more issues remain undisturbed. The population of this community lived in VI-III thousand BC. And this is a legacy that needs to be preserved.

What did we digitize?

Unusual pots and several special specimens were selected from the collection of the Kyiv Regional Archaeological Museum. One of them was a binecloid vessel, from which only a piece was broken. It is almost the only surviving ceramic product, over 6,000 years old. Restored, it became a business card. It was found on the 2015 collection postal stamp.

Digitized was also an anthropomorphic clay tire, a model of the Trypillian pottery tradition of the second half of the 5th millennium BC. Its form symbolizes the great goddess, which was often identified with the cow. Therefore, on the sides of the tires were small conical projections, symbolizing horns.

There was selected an anthropomorphic tire with a handle in the form of a bird. Not the only one of a tire that is different from the exemplary shape of the great goddess.

All of them were created in the second half of V thousand BC. with a deepened ornament inherent in the Middle Dnieper.

What else do they have?

They were first rescued in 2006. In the fall of that year, the “goodness” decided to recruit the black earth in the tract of Kolomytsi Yar, in the village Kopachiv in the Kyiv region.

As it happens, land work is not agreed with a scientific society. The excavator’s bucket began to destroy the cultural layer with Trypillian artifacts. Under it, fragments of pots, coating of the former building, and whole vessels disappeared. In late autumn, people in jackets and hats cleared the place of the cop made by the technique. And in three days they saved 135 surviving and fragmented ceramic products.

After February 24, 2022, the findings again were threatened with destruction. The most valuable artifacts were hastily packed, hiding and hoping for a miracle.

This time we digitized some artifacts from rescue excavations, thanks to the photogrammetry’s technology. It is difficult to overestimate the value of this work. Whatever happens. It is a heritage that has already been preserved for subsequent generations and researchers.

In addition, these artifacts are now available to the public at any time. Ceramics allows you to explore the life of Trypillians and their perceptions of the world. Ritual utensils have a hidden potential to answer this question.
