Maria Prymachenko’s virtual gallery: a new dimension of art

The first virtual gallery of Maria Prymachenko’s works as part of the exhibition “Maria Prymachenko. “Unknown” is a joint innovative project of the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine, the “eMuseum” team and the “Imersum” company, our permanent partners in technical implementation.

The project became possible thanks to the work of our team on the digitization of the museum’s exhibits long before the preparation of the exhibition. The team of specialists worked for half a year on the equipment donated to the ALIPH Foundation museum with the assistance of the French Institute in Ukraine.

віртуальна галерея Марії ПримаченкоThe gallery created by us not only presents the works of an outstanding artist. By “walking” through the halls, we created an opportunity to complete a quest and interact with items. To overcome the task, you need to fully engage in the new reality. So, for example, one of the tasks is to search for a missing exhibit from the stand – you need to find it in the gallery and put it in its place. And for a careful researcher of Prymachenko’s paintings, one must find among the exhibited works one that does not belong to the authorship of the artist. And also find all the lions and pictures.

Ceramic products that were painted by the artist can be taken and viewed from all sides, without fear of dropping them.

What the virtual gallery offers

The unique virtual gallery presents 79 original drawings by Maria Prymachenko from school albums of the 1940s, which for the first time became available for detailed inspection thanks to modern technologies.

The albums, stored in the museum since 1951, were previously exhibited only externally, so their inner contents remained a mystery to art connoisseurs for a long time.

Thanks to the technology of virtual reality and 3D modeling, the visitors of the museum got a unique opportunity to see rare drawings and the first ceramic works of the artist. In addition, you can interact with the works in an immersive way: examine them in detail, “touch” them and walk through the gallery’s virtual halls. This is an opportunity to take part in quizzes, excursions and other interactive activities for adults and children.

It is now possible to feel the art of Maria Primachenko closer than ever before.
